Anhydrous prices keep moving down

Brazilian anhydrous ethanol prices kept decreasing during the first fortnight of June. Some mills, in need of cash, increased their supply, pressing the quotations down. Not even the rainfalls that reached some regions of Sao Paulo state have supported the values.

Comparing the week from June 2nd to 6th to the period between Jun 9th and 13th, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Sao Paulo state) for this type dropped 2.59 percent in Real, averaging 0.7672 real or 0.4686 dollar per liter (excluding taxes). For the hydrated, on the other hand, there was an increase of 0.99 percent, at 0.6390 real or 0.3903 dollar per liter (excluding taxes).

Even with the recent decreases, the current averages are higher compared to the same period last year, in nominal terms. One year ago, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for the hydrated was of 0.5896 real or 0.3054 dollar per liter and for the anhydrous, of 0.6736 real or 0.3491 dollar per liter - excluding taxes for both of the types.
