Anhydrous rises 26 percent in March

During March, Brazilian ethanol prices increased expressively. The CEPEA/ESALQ Index for anhydrous (Sao Paulo state) upped 25.7 percent and for the hydrated, 17.8 percent. Only in the last week, the anhydrous Index valuated 10.3 percent, averaging 1.07044 real or 0.51978 dollar per liter (excluding taxes). The hydrated moved up 7.21 percent, to 0.96449 real or 0.46833 dollar a liter. Regarding the ethanol market pace, a smaller volume of trades was settled during the last week of the month.

Due to the significant ethanol prices increases, both of ethanol types passed to remunerate more than the sugar (in Sao Paulo state). Last week, the anhydrous remunerated 7 percent more than sugar and the hydrated, 2 percent more. Comparing the two types of ethanol, the anhydrous remunerated 5 percent more than the hydrated.
