Domestic prices decrease 4 percent in the month

Brazilian corn prices decreased from February to April and moved up from April to June, dropping again in the end of July. The main reasons for the downward trend this month are the decreasing international prices, the appreciation of the Real face to the dollar and the winter corn crop harvesting.

According to Conab (National Company for Food Supply), the Brazilian winter corn crop should amount 9.6 million tons this year, 24.8 percent superior in relation to the last season.

The Cepea-Esalq/BM&F Index for corn (Campinas city, SP) has been settled around 7.55 dollars per bag of 60 kilos, down 4 percent in the month.
