Export premium boosts the domestic market

The strong decreases at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT) in July were not transmitted to export FOB values of the Brazilian product, since export premiums were less negative. The FOB price to delivery in August by the Paranagua port was calculated at 308.29 dollars per ton on Tuesday, July 31st, up 1 percent over June 29th.

The CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Paraná state), which has been published by the Cepea for 10 years (since July 1997), increased 1.53 percent in Real and 4.13 percent in dollar during the month, closing at 31.81 reals or 16.90 dollars per bag of 60 kilos on July 31st. Due to higher prices in dollar, the soybean planted area in Brazil should not reduce - on the contrary, there is expectancy of enlargement.
