The FOB Paranagua price to delivery in October has been moving up since May this year, reaching 23.70 dollars per bag of 60 kilos at the end of September, the highest level since the beginning of Cepea's survey, in 1997.
Among the reasons is the valuation of the Real against the dollar - of 6.57 percent in September. Moreover, the positive premiums and the upward trend at the CBOT also contributed for the increasing FOB values.
In the domestic market, soybean prices have kept increasing, supported by the higher demand, especially from the international market. Besides that, growers kept retreated, betting on new valuations. Between Aug 31st and Sept 28th, the Esalq/BM&F Index (Paranaguá port) upped 7.25 percent in Real, closing at 42.62 reals or 23.24 dollars per bag of 60 kilos on Friday, Sept 28th. The CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Paraná state) averaged 40.18 reals or 21.91 dollars per bag of 60 kilos, increase 10 percent in Real during the month
