Indexes drop more than 10 percent in July

In July, soybean prices decreased expressively both in the domestic and international markets. The CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Parana state) dropped 10.9 percent in Real from June 30th and July 31st, closing at 46.91 reals or 30.03 dollars per bag of 60 kilos on Thursday, July 31st. For the product delivered at Paranagua port, the ESALQ/BM&F Index devaluated 11.02 percent in Real, at 49.17 reals or 31.48 dollars per bag.

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT), the contract August/08 devaluated 13 percent in the month, from 16.05 dollars per bushel on June 30th to 13.96 dollars per bushel on July 31st. The downward trend is linked to the Argentina's return to the grain market, to the petroleum devaluation and, especially, to the better climate in the United States. (Cepea - Brazil)
