Between May 30th and June 30th, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for the soybean (Paraná state) increased 18.6 percent in Real, closing at 52.63 reals or 32.96 dollars per bag 60 kilos on Jun 30th, getting close to the nominal record of March 2004 (55.30 reals per bag). To the ESALQ/BM&F Index (product delivered in the Paranaguá port), the raise was of 18.4 percent in the month, at 55.26 reals or 34.60 dollars per bag.
The support came from international raises, due to the weather in the United States, which are delaying the finish of the planting. Besides the heavy rains and flooding, agents were also concerned about the lower temperatures that have been damaging the crop development in the United States. In this context, the productivity should be lower this year compared to 2007. (Cepea - Brazil)
