The lower steer supply has been boosting beef prices expressively in the wholesale market of Sao Paulo city. On Friday, Nov 30th, the steer carcass averaged 4.54 reals or 2.54 dollars per kilo (the highest nominal value), upping 9 percent in Real over Oct 31st.
The top of the rib increased even more: 14 percent in Real, averaging 3.34 reals or 1.87 dollar per kilo on Nov 30th. The hindquarter beef valuated 8 percent in Real, at 5.67 reals or 3.17 dollars per kilo. The forequarter beef price upped 9 percent in Real, closing at 3.55 reals or 1.98 dollar per kilo.
For the steer, prices also moved up, supported by the restrict supply. Between Oct 31st and Nov 30th, the ESALQ/BM&F Index (Sao Paulo state) increased 15.33 percent in Real, averaging 76.96 reals or 42.92 dollars per arroba (15 kilos).
Regarding the living hog, prices received by farmers averaged 2.57 reals or 1.44 dollar per kilo on Nov 30th in Sao Paulo state, upped 4.9 percent in Real over Oct 31st. In the wholesale market of Sao Paulo capital, the hog carcass valuated more than 9 percent in Real during the same period, at 3.88 reals or 2.17 dollar per kilo on Nov 30th.
In the poultry market, the frozen meat prices increased 8.2 percent in Real in the accumulated of November, at 3.02 reals or 1.69 dollar per kilo on Nov 30th; the chilled one valuated 9.4 percent in Real, at 2.70 reals or 1.51 dollar per kilo on Friday, Nov 30th, both in the wholesale market of Sao Paulo capital - the most important Brazilian retail reference.
