Progress in trade between growers and processors

Due to the large rise in orange juice prices in the international market, Brazilian citrus growers asked processors for an increase in the value of their long-term contracts, which were renegotiated for the last crops. In their last meeting, July 5, Brazilian citrus plants proposed a price of around 1.00 dollar per box of 40.8 kilos, but citrus growers asked for 1.20 dollar. The final decision should be announced next Tuesday, June 18. Citrus plants' proposal is considered an advance in negotiation.

In the domestic market, trade keeps moving at a slow pace. Despite that, pera orange prices have been increasing.
