Rain is important in September

According to the National Company for Food Supply (Conab), Brazilian coffee production should increase 1 million bags in 2007/08, to 41.6 million bags of 60 kilos, a volume similar or inferior to the projected demand. In this context, prices should continue attractive for sellers.

Harvest activities of the current crop production, started in May, have been helped by the weather conditions. In September, the return of the rain will be important to the next crop production development - growers expect at least three blooming from September to October. If the weather stays hot and dry, flowers can fall down.

In the accumulated of this month, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for arabica upped 7.79 percent, around 108.00 dollars per bag of 60 kilos. For robusta one, the increase reaches 9 percent, to 82.00 dollars per bag.
