Brazilian sugar prices keep stable, at around 17.20 dollars per bag of 50 kilos. Due to the elevated stocks from mills, prices are not increasing, as it is expected for this off-season period.
The CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Sao Paulo state) averaged 17.24 dollars per bag of 50 kilos last Wednesday, stable in the accumulated of the month. Comparing to the end of 2006, the market is moving at a better pace at this beginning of year.
Price parity calculated by Cepea shows that the domestic market remunerated 11 percent more than exports during the last week.
