Valuation of the Real limits increases in Brazil

The valuation of the Real against the dollar limits the increases of the CBOT to the domestic market. Soybean values at the CBOT reached, at the end of May, the highest levels since July of 2004, of more than 8.00 dollars per bushel.

The exchange rate broke the level of 2.00 reals per dollar, up 3.51 percent during May, closing at 1.92 real per dollar this Thursday, May 31st - the lowest value since November of 2000.

The CEPEA/ESALQ Index (Paraná state) averaged 30.17 reals or 15.71 dollars per bag of 60 kilos this Thursday, increase only 0.87 percent in Real over Apr 30th.
